Boys summer camps has become more like what school should be at about the same time that school acts more like camp. When I was my son's age, I spent my summers at a camp on the Canadian Shield and learned as best I could how to walk like an Indian, track like an Indian, paddle like an Indian, live off the land like an Indian and live with the land like an Indian. Three decades later my son is learning these same values at school. And at camp he learns how to use a computer, play sports and work out, just like his old man.
