Over the years, many myths and fictional stories feature antique swords.  As an example, many video games and novels feature antique swords that never existed in reality.  Typically, the sword is either the objective of the quest, or it is one of the tools given to you at the beginning of the game.   There are also myths that feature infamous swords like Excalibur.  You may even find reference to collectible knives and swords that have all kinds of special properties.
