Cable television is the dominant for of non-broadcast television in the United States as of now. However, if current trends continue, cable television could stand to lose a lot of its market share to  satellite tv on PC . In the past years, the market share for cable has steadily decreased, while that of satellite tv on PC has increased by quite a bit. Price is apparently the biggest factor here. Satellite tv on PC, is by and large cheaper than cable television in the United States and while offering similar programming, can allow access to pay-per-view and other kinds of services.
