Studies have shown that even if women drink more than 3-4 drinks of alcohol a day (which is considered to be a high-risk level), if they also take 200 micrograms of folic acid, they can reduce their risk of breast cancer. There may be a cancer cure now. Folic acid is found in green leafy vegetables, citrus fruits and as a supplement from many health food companies.

The late humour columnist Erma Bombeck, who had a mastectomy to cure her breast cancer, quipped that after surgery, if life handed her lemons, she’d put them in her bra as a prosthetic breast. Maybe if she’d eaten more lemons (and oranges and grapefruit), she wouldn’t have had to undergo that extreme breast “cure”.
