Rosacea is Not Acne: Acne Rosacea Treatments
Many people are misinformed and think that rosacea is a form of acne. This is not true. Rosacea is actually a skin disorder of its own. The characteristics of rosacea are redness of the skin, either in blotches or large patches, usually on the center of the face. Rosacea seems to be caused by blood vessels dilating.
Acne is characterized by pimples or blackheads, and sometimes nodules. Acne is caused by the pores becoming clogged with excess natural oils from the sebaceous glands of the hair follicles. The two conditions are very different but often present themselves at the same time. The reason for this is yet unknown.
Acne rosacea treatments are not the same as treatment for acne alone because many acne medications can cause irritation to the often sensitive rosacea skin. Discuss acne rosacea treatments with your doctor.
