I am a 911 dispatcher. I am constantly faced with a similar situation. I receive a call from a frantic family member. A loved one has collapsed on the floor. There is no pulse, and the person is not breathing. The caller says, give me the steps of cpr. Many people are not prepared for a situation like this. When faced with this situation, they panic. They know that they should call 911, but they do not know the steps of cpr. They have never taken a cpr course, and at that moment, they wish they had. They ask me to tell them the steps that could save their loved one's life. At that point in time, it is too late to learn. I cannot offer a crash course over the phone. This is a situation that people should prepare for. It may never happen to them, but at least they will know what to do if it does happen.
