Many DSL subscribers install firewall software, as well as anti-virus and anti-spam software to help keep their connection secure and threats to a minimum.

dsl service providers are not available everywhere. Especially in outlying areas, it may not be offered yet by your phone company or another Internet Service Provider (ISP). Also, DSL customers do notice a degradation in service the farther they are located from the central office. The signal weakens over distance, so if you’re out in the boonies, your DSL broadband may not be much faster than dial-up.

A DSL connection works the opposite of a teenager: it can take in information faster than it can give it out.
