Once the SSA approves your application, you will begin to receive you disability benefits within six months. This doesn’t mean six months from the date of your application, it means six months from the date that you were determined disabled. For example, if the SSA determines that your disability started in March, then you would begin getting disability benefits in September. The amount of benefits that you receive will be determined by the amount of your lifetime earnings. The new amount should be close to the amount that you would normally receive within a month of work and act as a “replacement check”.

It was because this belief that I wanted to get a Job in Pediatric Surgery, because if a child has problems with the health than it can affect them all the way through the life, and to be able to cure them when they are still young is one of the greatest things that a doctor can do. I have been a pediatric surgeon now for over seven years, and I can honestly say that I cannot think of a different job within the medical profession that would give me more satisfaction.
