I cannot stand slang! I hate it when my students submit written homework with this “gangsta” language. I am not a racist. I just think that there is nothing wrong with speaking proper English and doing so while they are in school would enrich their vocabulary and get them prepared when applying for jobs in the corporate world. I find today’s vernacular to be very appalling. I will start giving homework to my students on short reviews and have them use a grammar checker online. It is a bold move and I am sure I am going to raise eyebrows of students, parents and school administration, but this is for them!
